 The Zone diet is a diet plan that monitors calorie intake and physical activity to deliver weight loss. It is a lifestyle diet plan to help people shed pounds and become physically fit. The key part of this diet program is the set of eating guidelines developed by the doctor Barry Sears.
The scientific theory of the diet looks at the effect of carbohydrates on the body's insulin levels. If you sleep eight hours each night, this means eating breakfast within an hour of getting out of bed, eating lunch within five hours after breakfast, a snack within five hours after your lunch, dinner within two or three hours of your snack, and a late night snack just before bed.
Most of the foods consumed on the Zone program include lean cuts of meat, such as chicken or fish and other sources of protein, plenty of vegetables and fruits, and a small amount of carbs. Breads, rice, cereals, sugar, and potatoes are the kinds of carbohydrate heavy foods that dieters are to avoid eating, but can eat once in awhile. Dieters must also avoid pre-packaged foods and food with a high sodium content.
Physical health is another key aspect of the Zone diet. The plan suggests moderate intensity exercise for thirty minutes a day, six days every week. Physical activity is supposed to increase the effectiveness of the Zone diet plan. Other things that are supposed to increase the effectiveness of the diet include taking nutritional supplements and vitamins.
The Zone plan is perfect for many people trying to lose weight, but it requires a big commitment. The reason why this diet and most other diet programs don't work is because many dieters quit before they are able to see improvement.
