Halloween treats are among one of the best things about Halloween. Unfortunately, there have been many different occurrences that have proved to be harmful and even fatal for many children and adults alike when it comes to these tasty little Halloween treats. This is often a direct result of inappropriate tampering. If you are a parent, it is especially important to ensure that you know and understand that many situations have and can arise when it comes to Halloween candies and other consumable items that your child receives on Halloween night.
This is why you take checking each and every piece of candy very seriously. Sure, the kids may become extremely impatient and frustrated, but this is to ensure that they are safe. Many have placed illegal drugs, razors, poison, and other items in these snacks. Here, you will learn how parents can check Halloween treats for safety.
The first thing that you should check for in your child's trick or treat bags are foods that have been homemade. This may include candy apples, homemade lollipops, cookies, and similar items. Sure, someone worked hard to create these snacks and they may appear very appetizing, but you should immediately discard all of these items.
When a child receives a homemade substance, anything, and I mean ANYTHING could have been used in the recipe. This includes poisons, drugs, household chemicals, and other products that can prove to be potentially fatal if consumed. The next thing that you should look at is the other “store bought” items that have been given to your child. You will want to check to make certain that the Halloween treats packaging has not been tampered with.
You will also want to make sure that the packaging has its original color and does not have any small holes in them. Many may attempt to poison the candy by inserting a needle with toxic materials in the product.
If you find that your child has received fruits, or similar items, it is often best just to throw these items away. They could have been easily tampered with. The best advice that I can provide when it comes to Halloween treats is that if you are in doubt, just go ahead and eliminate it. It is also important to ensure that you only allow your child to go trick or treating for these tasty little Halloween treats in places that you know and trust.
