Numismatics is the study of the accumulation of old and modern coins, Petrarch, the 14th century poet was considered the father of numismatics.
During the 15th century and the 16th century many noble persons had collected many Greece-Roman coins that reflected the ancient cultures and had a special appeal to them.
In the 17th century, the numismatic scholars compared and cataloged and published the existing great collections both public and private. The distinction between the genuine and the spurious coin is very essential.
The Number of collectors grew in the 19th and the 20th centuries and the publishing of catalogs and handbooks also increased. The Number of coin collectors greatly increased in the 20th century. The Public museums have been increased and undertook the task displaying a great deal of coins.The prominent universities including oxford Cambridge, Paris, Berlin and New York were Prominent. The first International Numismatic commission was formed in 1936.
The Recent justification for collecting world coins is their investment value. As the number of a particular coin issued remains static or decreases as coins are worm, damaged, lost, or destroyed, its value generally increases. The Physical condition of a coin is an important determinant of its value and often graded as the rarest.
These coins specially polished for sale to collectors and sets of proof coins are issued annually by the governments of many countries.
By and large numismatic is really a gem of the old thinkers and the asset of the modern collector who hunt for them many markets of the world for their rarest value which bring them fame and name for which they crave all over the world.
